When it comes to communication each and every person knows what you say has never been as important than how you say it. Even if you aren't speaking you are still communicating, even though you are not aware of it. Being aware of your body language and the way you convey your message, you can begin controlling it give a great impression towards the person you are interacting with. Using the following techniques you could save yourself time ensuring that you succeed and be able to interact with a good deal of smoothness and proficiency.
Controlling your facial expressions and being relaxed
Your face is the one that people will be looking at whilst speaking to you. If you are not aware of your facial expressions you might end up giving people the wrong impression without you knowing it. So make sure that you have a smile on your face while you are talking to all friends, family members or even work colleagues.
Proximity - personal space
When you're speaking to a friend or colleague make sure that you are neither too far or too close to them. Being too close to them indicates too much interest (even a little creepy) but moving away indicates too much indifference and that you have no interest in whatever the other person is saying which would leave them feeling alienated.
Move confidently with whatever you are doing
The way you move indicates the confidence level you have in yourself which in turn determines how people act around you. So do not clamp up or think you are embarrassing yourself. Be unashamed, be comfortable with whatever you are doing and people will be comfortable with you just by mirroring your actions. Remember, be comfortable even in uncomfortable situations.
This an important thing that most people generally need to avoid. As this indicates a sign of being nervous, discomfort and even boredom. It is also said to be a sign of displacement activity where someone tries to distract their mind from whatever is being said from the other person. And when you fidget you are not just indicating the sign of being nervous but also indicate that you are not giving full attention to whatever is being said which can be taken as being rude. -
Keep eye contact
This indicates that the person you are interacting has your attention and you are interested in what they have to say. It's a great way to establish rapport and is a sure way to keep you and the other person feeling involved in a positive interaction.
